Just in time for the film's 20th anniversary, we look at its biggest flubs.

The Idea of Universes Merging Simply Through Collision
Let's be honest, theorists probably had a field day figuring out how the universes could've possibly emerged in Super Mario Bros. I mean, the idea behind the dinosaurs coming back isn't the most thrilling to begin with (unless you're one of those people that ate up the idea of Theodore Rex), but still, could Hollywood not think of anything better? And for that matter, revolving around a Mario universe?
The RIGHT writer could've easily come up with an idea from the Mario world and made it stick in a Hollywood film. Instead, the team (which, by the way, includes Bill & Ted scribe Ed Solomon, who was probably brought in to clean up Parker Bennett and Terry Runte's work) simply churned out a lame, unbelievable story about universes merging, and some meteor that required a special fragment to get the job done. Because, you know, that totally happened in the games.
We're not done yet! There's a special surprise on the final page.
