We take a trip to Lincoln with Joel and Ellie. Find out more in our preview.
After working our way through traps and infected, we make our way through a door and straight into a trap. Joel’s foot is caught and he is strung upside down. As Ellie tries to get him down, Runners and Clickers appear and they try to rip Joel limb from limb as the blood rushes to his head. Joel pulls out his pistol and you begin to shoot and kill the infected while Ellie attempts to release the counter weight and free Joel. Once the infected have had enough of Joel, they turn their attention to Ellie. Joel must now protect Ellie and take out the infected before she is killed. Once Ellie is safe, she releases the counter weight and Joel is free. At this moment more infected appear and Joel is pinned down. Right before Joel is about to be killed, a mysterious figure decapitates the infected that has him pinned. Joel’s old friend Bill has saved his life.

At this point you follow Bill as the infected give chase. You must take out some infected along the way. Once safe, a cutscene begins. Joel and Ellie want Bill to help them find a car to get out of town. Bill says he may be able to help them if they go with him to gather parts. The level ends as the group sets off to find the materials needed to repair the truck.
Can Bill truly be trusted?
The Last Of Us is a truly remarkable game that surpasses the hype. The presentation and gameplay are amazing but the true star of the game is its subtle moments. The quietness invites an uneasy fearfulness that resembles true survival horror. The relationship between Joel and Ellie is sweet and contextual which will be a true highlight to the game. Stay tunes as we give you our preview of the second part of the demo, as we venture to Pittsburgh.
