With Nickelodeon ordering a third season of the hit animated TV series, Activision has plenty of Turtle time for its additional games.
Developed by Red Fly Studio, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows is expected to release this summer exclusively for digital download on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, PlayStation Network and PC via Steam.
Nickelodeon, which is currently airing the first season of the new show, has ordered 26 more episodes for a third season. The half-hour CG-animated action-comedy, which was 2012’s number-one new animated program with boys 2-11 across all TV, will continue to showcase the camaraderie of the four mutant brothers as they use their ninjutsu skills to battle the supernatural evil forces that threaten not only New York City, but the entire world. Season two is currently in production at the Nickelodeon Animation Studio. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is executive produced by Ciro Nieli and Peter Hastings.
Producer Michael Bay is working on a big screen TMNT reboot starring Megan Fox from Transformers, which will likely open up another potential license for Activision. The company has been busy in the Hollywood game with Transformers, The Walking Dead, Family Guy, Men in Black 3, Battleship, The Amazing Spider-Man and other projects.
