Don't get lost in the Miasma! Check out Into the Emberlands!

It's that time again for a new episode of Chichuki Views, the show where I go hands-on with upcoming games and show them off. Usually it's about an hour or so but I don't want to spoil too much of the game for you. Today, we're checking out Into the Emberlands on Steam.

I really like the way Into the Emberlands looks. It has an Animal Crossing charm with the seriousness of a crazy adventure without going too crazy. I really like the design of the characters too. Things will start out simple but ramp up the further you get in your journey. You are tasked with finding all kinds of resources as well as missing Knacks. It shouldn't be too hard to find all those things, right. Well, you only have a certain number of helpful tools for aid.

You have to find tools strewn about the world or find coins/currency to buy more. You're also tasked with finding Knacks that are lost. The challenge is that they are lost in the miasma and you have to tread lightly. What I mean by that is you have a limited number of steps you can take into the miasma. Make your way back to the village and you regain those steps. Get stuck out in the miasma and perish. You will have to plan your walks through the locations so you don't find yourself running out of embers. The easiest way to judge the embers is by counting the number of steps you have left.

You will need stone, wood, and other material in addition to the lost villagers to fix buildings and upgrade the level of the village. You can also buy tool and you will need to because axes and picks don't grow on trees. There will monsters out in the miasma too and you will have to figure out what they want. They could need wood or money. They will be willing to trade for things you might need like axes, picks, or embers to get through the miasma. You'll also find those strewn about the location as well. You'll have tasks that you'll have to perform during the journey like fixing the inn, fixing the tool shed, or finding more Knacks for the village. You'll also be able to upgrade your tools to make them stronger as well.

One minor issue I had was that I was trying to play the game with a controller on Steam. It worked ok but there were times where I would lose the pointer and have to use the mouse to get it back. I also had slight issues with the camera moving all over the place and I was having trouble getting it back to where I wanted it to be. I was still able to enjoy the game and have a fun time. Fixing those issues will help in the long run.
