Should you “steer clear” of TNT Racers?
I had a slight issue with the steering controls in that they weren’t as responsive as they should have been. I found myself over steering a lot and trying to make a sharp turn and would drive right into the wall. I wouldn’t have found that to be that much of a problem if the game didn’t eliminate you from the current race if the action gets too far ahead. You would enter “shadow” status and still be able to alter the race by messing with the other racers.
TNT Racers has other game-lay modes to choose from such as Score mode and Time mode and they are exactly what they sound like. Score mode has you trying to score the target amount and Time mode has you trying to score the most points in a limited time. The game also has a Tournament mode where you race on different tracks and the highest score after three races wins.
TNT Racers reminds me of an old school drive around/smash em up game where anything can happen and everyone who’s playing can’t tell what’s going on at times. The music was perfect at times where it sounded like you were playing an old school racer but the game didn’t have nearly enough of a musical selection. You would hear the same music on quite a few tracks.
However, while playing the game, it froze on me for absolutely no reason, which happens from time to time so I’m not going to kill it on that. In this instance, you get what you pay for, a multiplayer racing game where anything can happen, similar to Mario Kart. Whereas the emphasis is on the racing in Mario Kart, the emphasis for TNT Racers is on speed and zaniness!( that’s right zaniness) Games that care more about sharp turns and speed need tight steering/controls and TNT Racers just doesn’t have the tight controls it needs. It’s that main reason that I’m giving TNT Racers: Nitro Machines Edition an 8/10.
