It's hardly innovative, but you won't find a better time on the dance floor this year.
At least the song list has diversity. Yes, there are some tiring radio hits from Minaj, Perry and…sigh…Beiber, but there are also some classics. Ray Parker Jr.'s "Ghostbusters" is a sheer guilty pleasure, if only because one dancer can actually play as Slimer. We've seen it, it's crazy. "Get Lucky" from Daft Punk w/ Pharrell is a popular choice, along with PSY's "Gentleman," which some people oblige to sing along to. "WET PSY!" Again, we've seen it. It's crazy.
The Wii U version stands out above the others because of some exclusive additions. One person who, gasp, isn't so much into dancing can still join in and use the GamePad as their own personal microphone, adding a clever karaoke-style feature to the game. They can also walk around with the device like a free camera, capturing all the action and showing the dancers in action. There's also a neat feature where the GamePad holder can decide the next dance routines, challenging their tap-worthy friends to go from one insane move to another. Talk about the ultimate challenge.
Finally, the World Dancefloor makes you feel like you're taking part in a huge get-together, even if it's just you standing around in your living room. It's fun, and a good way to get into a dance club mood without paying the $25 cover charge. Plus, you don't have to worry about dress code.
