Fans of the show may like it, but it's too dull and uninventive.
A good kind of trivia game can hook you for hours on end. Who doesn't like sitting around and playing Trivial Pursuit or, better yet, taking part in Jellyvision's hysterically funny You Don't Know Jack series? However, if they're done the wrong way, they can be quite dull…and, sadly, Who Wants To Be a Millionaire? Special Edition does just that.
The game follows the format of the show, allowing you to answer questions and eventually earn enough money to get to the million-dollar tier. Along the way, you have three "aids" that can push you along, including a 50/50 chance, the ability to call a friend and the opportunity to poll the audience. You can only use each one once.
Doublesix and Deep Silver did an acceptable job recreating the atmosphere of the show, complete with dramatic camera cutaways (on your contestant – a mysterious black figure?) and slow Q & A periods. Unfortunately, it's too accurate, and, as a result, becomes repetitive and bland.
