The new classic content is good, but there's little here that adds to the racing experience overall.
The gameplay itself works just fine, but, again, doesn't have too many changes. F1 2013 did tweak the driving assist systems a little bit so new drivers won't feel so overwhelmed, but it doesn't really go much further into making anyone feel excitement on the road. An arcade mode would've been welcomed, doing away with all the "simmy" settings and instead just letting players feel the rush of hitting the road. Alas, you have to do a lot of sitting and practice runs in order to get to the good stuff of the game.
There are online functions, but, again, very few are changed from last year. You can challenge fellow players – in which there are thankfully quite a few due to the game's community circles – and see how you compare during a season. But, again, the lack of something fresh makes it feel like you've been down this road before.
F1 2013's presentation continues to be as good as it can be considering the sport itself. The cars look great, the tracks offer some diversity – same as last year – and the new filtering system for "classic" events has its moments. However, there's nothing here that stands out over some of the better racing games on the market. For fans, though, the by-the-books presentation may be enough.
