Shiver me timbers, this game is weird -- but fun.
Then there's the audio. The music is pretty good, despite just being cheesy rock, as W-Force is usually known for. The dialogue is good, but is in Japanese. For some reason, Namco opted to forgo the usual dubbing it performs on games like these. It's not entirely missed, but it would've been nice to have the option anyway, instead of consistently peering down at subtitles.
If you're a One Piece fan that's been looking for a satisfying gaming experience, Pirate Warriors 2 will certainly get the job done. You just need to stick with it for a while, and it eventually opens up into what you were expecting it to be. As for everyone else, proceed with caution. We are talking a $40 download here, and one that'll leave you scratching your head – more than once – if you don't "get it". Maybe ask an anime friend for help or give it a look before you purchase.
To everyone else, happy pirating.
