Capcom's latest entry in the series takes a huge step backwards.

The single-player campaign will take a while to toil through, but has no real pay-off. There's also a multiplayer mode where you can compete against other teams, but it's got connection problems galore, and just isn't nearly as fun as it could've been. Don't expect a huge community behind this one.

Even though Lost Planet 3 seems like an ideal project from the start, with an original approach and some interesting gameplay ideals, it never really reaches its potential. The lacking presentation, slow gameplay and lack in variety with enemies and environment make this the worst in the series to date. Yes, Lost Planet 2 was better.

If this series does come back – and that's a big if – here's hoping Capcom ditches new ideas in favor of gameplay that doesn't feel like hell frozen over.
