With the touch screen on the Game Pad, you’ll be able to play Star Wars Pinball even if a certain father cuts off one of your hands.
I also felt that the controls don’t feel natural to me. On the Game Pad there are L and R buttons as well as shoulder buttons, ZL and ZR. I found myself wanting to hit ZL and ZR to control my flippers on the table but they were controlled by L and R. This is also not a deal breaker but it just takes some getting used to. I guess the best comparison is the eShop Mega Man games with jump and shoot buttons switched around.
To recap, Star Wars Pinball is a good transition from a pinball table to the Wii U. Through the joy of music and sounds, Zen Studios has brought the best of Star Wars and pinball together. You can play with friends to compete for the high score or play solo and contribute to the Jedi side or to the dark side. Let’s face it, you’re mind will say Jedi but your heart will say Dark side. The activity on the screen as well as the controls at times feels like they’re on the path of the dark side because it takes sometime to get the control scheme down. The graphics/presentation more than makes up for these minor issues so I’m giving Star Wars Pinball for the Wii U an 8.5/10, a good game but has issues that if not there could make it a great game.
Score: 8.5 / 10
