Is Mario and Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move just another eshop puzzle game?
If Puzzle Palace wasn’t to your liking, maybe you would like to try Many Mini Mayhem, my personal favorite mode. This mode gives you the tiles already on the game-board and all you have to do is move/slide them to where you want them. I know what you’re thinking “What’s the catch?” Well, the catch is there isn’t just one mini on the board. You need to get all the minis to the goal while rotating Poke-ball looking tiles to give the minis all the help they can get.
Along the way, one of the minis might have a key and that mini will have to get to the lock first. Sounds logical but gets to be a pain when you have to figure out a way for that mini to get on the tile first and get the Shy Guy, that’s in the way, away from the lock. Trust me, you will have to make that decision sooner rather than later. To aid in this quest, you can tap the mini to make them move faster, which helps greatly when you need to move a tile at a precise moment. Three game modes down, one mode left, how hard could that mode be?
The last mode is called Giant Jungle and this time, the toughest mode, not the best, was saved for last. You have to gather stars strewn across the stage and get the mini to the goal. Accomplish this in the allotted time limit and you’re going to space camp! Sorry, my inner child who really wanted to be on Double Dare came out there. This mode is very difficult because the stage is huge compared to the other stages. You have to move the camera to see how big the stage is and like the other game modes, you don’t have enough time to really do much of anything, other than complete the level. There are only three stages in Giant Jungle so if that doesn’t tell you it’s going to be tough, then nothing will!
At this point after you’ve smashed your head against the wall quite a few times from Giant Jungle, you’ll need a reprieve from the tough. Luckily, there are four mini-games as well as a level creator. The mini games are fun and at times put the 3D effects of the system to good use. Mini Target Smash is exactly what it sounds like, you throw mini Marios at targets. Fly fish for Fly Guys in the Fly Guy Grab and smash the cube with minis in Cube Smash. Now, Elevation Station doesn’t really use depth so this mini game didn’t need 3D to be played. You raise an elevator to collect coins and prevent Bullet Bills from killing you. Still fun but didn’t need 3D.
