KingsRoad seeks to set a new standard for free to play games, but does it hit a dead end? Find out in our review!
After making your way through an initial wave of enemies, your hero must select one of three classes. You may choose to be a knight, a wizard, or the current pop culture fad, archer. Picking a certain class determines your play style and the type of weapons that you can use. Payers can also go back and choose to train in another class as well. The point and click gameplay does not seem to be as smooth as it could be. There are times where you will attempt to hit an enemy but instead you will just run to a different part of the battleground. This can become frustrating especially when enemies surround you. The missions are also pretty direct and linear. While you can unlock a Hero difficulty for each level to find legendary loot and treasure, there is not much incentive to exploring the world except for the occasional loot chest. The missions are normally fighting through waves of enemies and defeating a boss with no variation in between. A positive side to this is with every mission that is completed, you unlock someone in your main town that opens up blacksmithing, storage of items, and more. The game also features drop-in drop-out multiplayer
Gameplay can be frustrating but is a overall fun experience.
KingsRoad is a surprisingly fun game considering that it is free to play. There are 10 levels with built in replay ability once the missions are complete. The game hits all the major RPG points with out complicating it with a convoluted plot or with a difficult crafting menu. While the gameplay may become frustrating, the enemies do serve a suitable challenge, as each mission is unlocked. Upgrading is fun and different potions and events, such as the Queen’s Blessing, will double your XP and allow you to upgrade even faster. Even though the game claims to be free to play, there are still "freemium" items that players can purchase using real money. KingsRoad is a fun game that is free to play and avialable currently on Facebook or directly in your browser at RumbleGames.com. Just search KingsRoad and become a hero today!
