Is the latest installment in the Assassian Creed series more of the same? Find out in our review.
The gameplay in Assassin’s Creed 3 is actually more of the same, which is both good and bad. The aqueous combat from the previous games return accompanied by even more brutal combats and sadistic kill animations. While it is fun to feel like an unstoppable killing machine, being able to counter any attack with the push of one button lowers the difficulty significantly. New weapons such as the tomahawk or the Gamestop exclusive Sawtooth Sword provide varying kill animations yet no unique strategy is needed to wield them. Combat is fun, but a bit more challenge would have been welcomed, especially for the fifth game in the series. Luckily, the story of Assassin’s Creed 3 will keep you enthralled.
Assassinate under the cloak of wilderness.
The main story of Assassin’s Creed 3 continues form the previous entrances in the series. Desmond Miles and his brotherhood of assassins are still trying to prevent the end of the world brought on by the Templars. To do this, the team must continue to investigate and discover the Pieces of Eden. To accomplish this task, Desmond must step into the shoes of Ratonhnhaké:ton, also known as Connor, his half British half Mohawk ancestor. After a shocking twist in the beginning, you play as Conner from a boy training in the wilderness, to a vengeful young adult, to a master assassin in training. The story of Assassin’s Creed 3 one of vengeance, revenge, and family. Interwined in this tale are the events that gave us our freedom, the American Revolution.
