Now that we've gotten the crap out of the way, let's count down the best!

4. The Cabin In the Woods

Teenage horror movies have gotten a little out of hand lately, especially when it comes to the point of their existing.  But leave it to producer Joss Whedon and director Drew Goddard to put us back on point with this awesome horror/comedy, one that shows the flip side of the usual horror rules with a bunch of kids unwittingly stumbling upon an even bigger plot.  This one plays out just as much for laughs as it does for screams, and the ending is a whopper that no one can see coming.  And, yes, we love the Merman.  There, we said it.

3. The Dark Knight Rises

Christopher Nolan's third – and final – go-around did not disappoint.  Even with an overlong playing time and the sometimes incomprehensible speech coming from Tom Hardy's Bane character, The Dark Knight Rises delivered on every accord, from thrilling special effects to powerhouse performances from Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway (she actually keeps up with Michelle Pfeiffer in Catwoman form) and newcomers like Joseph Gordon-Levitt (again?  Yep.) and Marion Cotillard.  It ends on just the right note, which will satisfy comic book fans everywhere.  Except those who wanted a fourth film, obviously.
