Now that we've gotten the crap out of the way, let's count down the best!
8. Django Unchained
If anyone else besides Quentin Tarantino had tried to tackle a spaghetti Western with underlined themes about slavery, audiences would've probably considered it a disaster. But because it's Tarantino, it's nothing short of a pulp classic. This thrill ride features Jamie Foxx in the role of a lifetime as a vengeful slave-turned-bounty hunter, working alongside gunman Christoph Waltz as he attempts to find his wife. Featuring powerhouse performances from Leonardo DiCaprio and Samuel L. Jackson, and plenty of laughs and bloodshed along the way, Django is just the blast we needed to get through the holidays. Spike Lee's got it wrong.
7. The Raid: Redemption
A ridiculously violent overseas effort that has its heart – along with all its other organs – in the right place, The Raid: Redemption focuses on a SWAT team infiltrating a drug dealer's sealed building, facing off against gunmen with both plenty of firepower and fists and kicks. Directed with stylish flair and featuring more than enough fight sequences to fill two movies, The Raid's main highlight is a freezer face-off, where the nimble Mad Dog (Yayan Ruhian), small in stature but great in energy, faces off against two guys for more than five minutes. Despite some plot hiccups, The Raid is one for the ages when it comes to action.
