Free-to-play browser based real-time strategy game Conquer Mars looks to ease new players into the daunting genre
Have you ever tried playing a real-time strategy game only to become frustrated at how overly complex it can be? Developer Zero Blood Games might just have the answer with its free-to-play browser RTS Conquer Mars that looks to simplify the gameplay without taking away anything from the action.
Featuring up to 8 player online/offline battles and currently in alpha, Conquer Mars hopes to be a simple and fun alternative to the overly complex RTS games and time consuming alternatives like Starcraft. Being a relative newbie to the RTS genre myself, the game definitely helps cater to those who aren’t familiar with RTS games or just want to have large scale battles without all the prep work. And boy does Conquer Mars deliver in that aspect.
What you are left with when you begin a game is a single base of operations called a Mine that will give you the resources over time rather than having to mine yourself. Familiar functions like upgrading your base and units make an appearance, as well as an intuitive and simple UI that felt helpful enough to not require a tutorial although it would’ve helped for some points.
