Free-to-play browser based real-time strategy game Conquer Mars looks to ease new players into the daunting genre
For a browser based game, the game rarely had any slowdowns despite there being large scale battles and this is a definite plus for the casual gamer crowd who haven’t splurged on a hefty gaming computer. With that in mind, the presentation and graphics are a tad bit boxy but are far from terrible for a browser game and the quality is substantially high for an indie title.
The maps are also randomly generated for every playthrough, changing the position of starting bases and how the terrain is maintained which definitely adds to the replay value and strategic elements.
Although the game is still in alpha and has some bugs to work out; like slow to respond units, poor camera and units getting stuck in objects, it looks very promising so far and may just offer what non-RTS fans need to get started in the genre.
