WrestleMania 28 has the distinction of being the highest grossing PPV event in wrestling history. The card featured eight epic confrontations including the battle for The Best In The World featuring CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho, the surprising 18 second World Heavyweight Championship match with Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus, and the End of An Era match featuring HHH vs. Undertaker in Hell In A Cell with Shawn Michaels as the special guest referee. One match on the card featured a build up of over a year. Once again on the Grandest Stage Of Them All, generations collided as The Rock battled John Cena.
Labeled “Once In A Lifetime” (until the same match took place the following year for the WWE Title) the main event of WrestleMania 28 featured the return of The Rock to face his newest rival John Cena. After a year of insults, promos, and a tag team match that saw The Rock and John Cena defeat the Awesome Truth (Miz and R-Truth) at Survivor Series, these two charismatic WWE superstars met in an epic battle for respect.
This personal rivalry began years before as Cena begun to publicly voice his criticism and disappointment in Rock’s movie career, asking him to return to the WWE. Rock returned to answer Cena’s criticisms face to face, which led to their encounter at Wrestlemania 28. With the Miami crowd firmly behind their hometown hero, The Rock defeated John Cena, earning his respect.
The match was criticized heavily for The Rock’s lack of conditioning. Still, the two icons put on a entertaining and story driven performance that you can now experience for yourself. While the game promises authentic video presentations and entrances, performances from FloRida or Machine Gun Kelly have not been confirmed. Still, you will be able to experience the match and all of The Rock’s goatee glory in 30 Years of WrestleMania Mode.
