WrestleMania X8 (18)

March 17, 2002

Skydome

Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Attendance: 68,237

Icon vs. Icon

WrestleMania X8 can be remembered for a few reasons. It was the last WrestleMania to take place under the WWF name. It also featured the largest attendance in the Skydome’s history and generated an estimated $3.9 million dollars. The card featured highlights such as Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Scott Hall and the Undertaker vs. Ric Flair. The P.P.V. dubbed “The One and Only” also featured a match that was labeled Icon vs. Icon. Generations collided as Hollywood Hulk Hogan battled The Rock.

In 2001, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon bought out his major competition wCw and absorbed the company into the WWE. In an epic storyline, Ric Flair became the co-owner of the WWE. Deciding to destroy the WWE instead of share it with his rival, McMahon brought in the original nWo comprising of Hollywood Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, and Scott Hall. Colliding at WrestleMania X8, Hogan and The Rock delivered an epic match.

Hogan asked Hall and Nash to not interfere in the match, which did not sit well with the Outsiders. The crowd cheered Hogan on as he and The Rock battled from pillar to post. In the end, The Rock’s hand was raised in victory. As the Rock left the ring, Nash and Hall attacked Hogan and the Rock returned to make the save. The next night on Monday Night Raw, Hogan tore off his nWo shirt and Hulkamania was reborn.

This epic match has been recreated from archived footage to bring you into the epic encounter of Icon vs. Icon. Both Hogan’s and Rock’s entrances and attire for the event have been recreated meaning that the iconic nWo entrance and theme music will be in the game. While it is currently unclear how detailed the end of the match will be considering that Hall and Nash have not been confirmed for the game, the WWE Universe will now have the opportunity to recreate and relive this once in a lifetime confrontation. For The Rock, this is not the only “Once In A Lifetime” match that will take place in 30 Years Of WrestleMania.
