The Birth Of Hulkamania
There are epic matches, there are iconic matches, and then there are legends. In the 80s no one was more popular than Hulk Hogan and no one was more feared than Andre The Giant. With Bobby “The Brain” Heenan as his mouthpiece, The Giant catapulted to the top of the WWE Universe’s most hated list. Towering at 7ft. 4 in. and weighing close to 600 lbs. The Giant dominated everyone he stepped in the ring with. When the fans looked for a hero to conquer the beast, the fans looked to the Real American, Hulk Hogan.
The main event drew the largest attendance of a live sporting event in history. A record that would stand for another 23 years. Fans came from all over the world to witness Hogan attempt to overcome the Eighth Wonder Of The World.
The match was almost over shortly after it begun as Hogan attempted to lift the massive Giant. His weight proved too much and The Giant collapsed on Hogan’s chest almost leading to a three count. Hogan persevered and delivered a scoop slam and a leg drop to defeat the behemoth and retain his WWE Championship. At this moment, Hulkamania was born.
Now, you can recreate this epic contest that set the stage for the media spectacle that is WrestleMania. I know what you are thinking, but Hogan’s current status with TNA Wrestling will not impact his character’s involvement in the game. He has been recreated from vintage WWE footage and will appear in all of his red and yellow glory. It remains to be seen if other epic matches from WrestleMania 3 will be included such as the WWE Intercontinental Title match between Macho Man Randy Savage and Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat. With Macho already confirmed and Steamboat appearing in previous titles, it does seem likely. While this match is epic in itself, this is not the only time the Immortal One will be stepping through the ropes in 30 Years Of WrestleMania.
