Rayman, Sonic, and the Professor Layton/Phoenix Wright cross over highlight the future for the big N.
Nintendo decided that it was time for another Nintendo Direct to show off what the future holds for Nintendo. In a “do or die” period for the Wii U, Nintendo might be righting the ship when it comes to the Wii U. Starting with Pikmin 3; Nintendo has several games planned for the system that should be able to get the Wii U out of its funk.
Sonic Lost World was batting lead-off on the Nintendo Direct today and one of the main selling points was that there are going to be a wide variety of levels/ courses for Sonic to traverse through. A problem for newcomers into the Sonic franchise is that the game play is too fast but that appears fixed with speed controls to help control Sonic. This way, players will be able to control the Fastest Hedgehog around much easier. The game releases October 22nd and will have a 3DS version as well. The 3DS version will be able to communicate with the Wii U version through a local wireless connection. Players will be able to build RC vehicles in Tails’s shop and then use them in Co-op mode in the Wii U version.
Rayman Legends is finally coming to Wii U and the delay probably hurt sales early in the life cycle of the system. However, the game will be coming out September 3rd and can make up for the delay in a hurry. Rayman will be trying to save the Teensies from danger and will go through different modes of game play to do it. From platform action to rhythm based levels, this game has it all and I didn’t even mention the co-op mode and multiplayer games/online challenges. You’ll also have the chance to dress Rayman up as your favorite plumber, Mario so keep an eye out for that.
Before I get to Mario, and there’s always Mario, the eShop exclusive Art Academy Sketch Pad will be available for download on August 9th. The Miiverse community for the game will launch after the release date of the game and you’ll be able to share drawings and pictures for the world to see. Mario and Luigi Dream Team is coming out soon and by soon I mean a few days from today. To get you ready, Nintendo has mentioned the idea of being able to combine badges. For those who don’t know, badges are how Mario and Luigi fight and protect themselves in the Mario and Luigi RPG games. There are Gear Items as well and the more challenges you complete, the rarer the item you can find will be.
