The actress is now a part owner of the mobile video game company.
Tweens love actress Olivia Holt, who has starred in the Disney XD TV series “Kickin’ It” and is working on a new Disney TV series called “I Didn’t Do It.” The actress, 15, has been gaming her entire life, so it’s fitting that she now owns part of a new video game company called PlayMG Corp. She’s joined forces with NBA All-Star Kyrie Irving to work with the mobile gaming company, which offers an Android-based portable gaming device aimed at kids.
PlayMG, which launched last year, has over 60,000 app games designed for kids with a 4-inch touch screen. Holt is working with the creators of the technology and is also connecting directly with her fans through these games. The actress talks about her new role as video game executive in this exclusive interview.
How did you get involved with PlayMG?
They kind of came to me with the device and explained to me what it was, and I literally immediately thought that it was really cool. I decided to become a partner/owner of the company and it’s been so much fun already. I’m excited where we’ll get from here because I feel PlayMG has a lot to offer.
What is some of the input that you’ve already been able to add to the company since joining up?
We talked about a lot of things. What’s going to be really fun is Kyrie Irving, who is also a partner and owner in the company, and I will be giving weekly recommendations on apps for the kids. When they pick up the PlayMG there will be a picture of me and then a picture of Kyrie and when you click on either of our faces it will take you to recommendation apps that we have given for kids. Kids are constantly playing one game and once they want to move on to another one they can just go to our page and we’ll have different apps for them to choose from, which I think is a really unique and interesting way to give kids a few more games. Also, we’ll help with designing device accessories and things like that. I think it’s really fun.
