GamerHub TV was invited to the exclusive reveal OF WWE 2K14.
As we stepped into the next studio, we were greeted by a collection of monitors and headphones. A promotional banner featuring the Ultimate Warrior int the familiar WWE Games artwork intimated us. We set down onto the couches and begin to explore the game. There were only two modes of play available, One on One and Triple Threat. There were seven playable characters that may give a hint to the unannounced big feature of the game. We were able to select from two modern superstars John Cena and Dolph Ziggler, three modern legends Stone Cold Steve Austin, HBK, and The Rock, and two vintage legends The Ultimate Warrior and Macho Man Randy Savage. Yes, after taking time off, the Madness is back and for the first time ever players can play as the Ultimate Maniacs.
The freak of nature begins to swell in WWE 2K14.
Once I got my hands on the game, it initially seemed to be more of the same. I selected Macho Man Randy Savage and my opponent choose the Ultimate Warrior. Warrior was out first and he stormed the ring and shook the ropes like only he could. While his entrance looks great, the character had an overall plastic and unrealistic look. Next up was Madness himself. Macho Man entered the arena in an amazing purple robe that would make Ric Flair jealous. Believe it or not, the robe was the most visually interesting item in the game, and that is a compliment. The robe flowed flawlessly as Savage sauntered to the ring. You could almost count each individual sequence pattern. This was impressive and it shows that 2K Sports has paid attention to the little things within the game. While presentation is great in a WWE game, it is the wrestling that matters.
It's just so...awesome
As my opponent and I continued to comment on the marvel that was Macho Man’s robe, we noticed something odd on our screen. Macho Man grabbed his wrists and tightened his wrist tape. Warrior then taunted Macho Man. This is due to the addition of what 2K Sports is calling “fidgets”. These motions happen automatically and add a sense of realism to the action. The overall movement of the wrestlers is more fluid than ever before. 2K Sports has worked on creating faster navigation to speed up the action on screen. Strikes are now faster and more powerful. They provide a more strategic advantage and allow you to move into power moves quicker than ever before. Comebacks have also been retooled to include signatures and finishers creating a dangerous opportunity to change the momentum of the match and possibly lead to a three count.
