No big presentation is No Problem for the Big N
In the Year of Mario,( Yes, I have dubbed it the year of Mario, sorry Luigi) the newest Mario Kart has seen the light of day. I am happy to say that the game isn’t a collaboration with Sonic the Hedgehog.( I was very nervous that Nintendo was going to ride their newest partnership with SEGA into the ground) That, in my opinion would have ruined the Mario Kart franchise. Moving on, Mario Kart 8, the second Mario Kart numbered game, brings back the likable bikes for players to use and the boat/hang glider combo to the game. In this installment, you’ll be able to drive hovercrafts and drive on walls of courses. That is an awesome idea and the addition of a horn button is an aesthetic touch. You’ll also be able to drive upside down as well which adds to how the developers can create courses to drive on.
The game will also have Mario Kart TV, which in theory is the next installment of the Mario Kart channel. Kart TV will be for online racing and sharing fun with friends and other games. It will also be where players can make highlight reels of their races and share those highlights with anyone in the world. The Game Pad can be used to drive with the gyro sensors in the Pad or you can use the control stick on the Game Pad to steer. I tried out both versions and I find the control sticks on the Pad are much easier to drive with. That form of driving tricks you into thinking you’re playing an old version of Mario Kart. The Gyro sensors take a little getting used to but once you do, you’ll be driving like a pro.
