It should be the year of Nintendo Direct rather than the year of Luigi.
Resident Evil: Revelations, the game that was originally released on the 3DS, is almost ready for its Wii U updated debut. New graphics and controls are just the tip of the ice burg when talking about this game. New modes have been added, such as Infernal mode where things are in different locations like Zelda Master Quest, and Raid Mode where added characters Hank and Rachel reside. The Game Pad has quite a few uses in this game, from becoming a map to being able to play the whole game on it. Revelations is also Miiverse compatible by having Death Messages and Creature Voice mode. The game is set for release May 21st.
More info on New Super Luigi U has surfaced today. Nabbit, the thief from NSMBU, has become a playable character who takes the place of Mario because Mario doesn’t appear in the game. Nabbit has the same speed and jump as the other characters but is impervious to damage from enemies. He isn’t able to get power ups either. So, if you are having trouble, just play as Nabbit. The Super Luigi U DLC for NSMBU will be available for download on June 20th for 20 dollars but hold on a second. New Super Luigi U is also being released as a stand alone game, being released August 25 for 30 dollars. This totally caught me by surprise but I guess it makes sense, seeing as though it is a totally DIFFERENT game.
The release date for The Wonderful 101 was revealed to be September 15th. Hope you enjoyed the Wonderful 101 portion of the Nintendo Direct. Pikmin 3 is coming August 4th so Nintendo had to reveal something about it today and they did just that. Long story short, the three new playable characters, Alph, Brittany, and Charlie, need to find a new food supply for their home planet to avoid a major crisis. They crash-land on the planet that has the various Pikmin and they find fruit.
The explorers are trying to bring the seeds home to save their planet. There will be different control schemes for Pikmin 3. You will have the option to play it with Game Pad, KopPad in the game, the Wii U Pro controller, the Wiimote and Nunchuk controller combo, and off TV on the Game Pad or using the Game Pad as the TV with another controller. Pikmin 3 seems more forgiving to first time players with the ability to restart days to learn from your mistakes. Mr. Iwata snuck in a minor mention of the Challenge Mode and the Multiplayer mode but said they would have to wait for another time.
Nintendo saves the best for last with Reggie Fils-Aime, who by the way has a Pokemon Fossil expansion theme deck on one of the shelves behind him. Reggie revealed that they have partnered with Best Buy in the United States and Canada to provide store goers the chance to play the games that will be E3 this year. With the poor marketing campaign of the Wii U, Nintendo should do this type of thing at every step of the way. If the 3DS wasn’t doing so well, they might be going crazier with things like this but since it is doing well, they don’t need to hit the panic button just yet. It should be interesting to see how Nintendo divides it attention between Nintendo Directs and the various things they have planned for E3.
