Super Mario Bros. 3 is one of the best Mario games around but what makes the game so great?
Number 2- New Power-Ups
Let me start number 2 by stating the obvious, there were power ups in Mario 1 and 2, but Nintendo went nuts in Mario 3 by adding several power-ups and power suits. Mario was stuck on the ground but that changed with the Raccoon Leaf, allowing Mario to take flight. He was also able to fly with the P-Wing as well as the Tanooki Suit. The main difference between the Raccoon Leaf and the Tanooki Suit was that Mario could turn to stone for a limited time and enemies couldn’t hurt him. There were several water levels in Mario 3 so why not add a power-up that allows Mario to swim better. Enter the Frog Suit. Thing was great in water and allowed Mario to swim in precise directions but sucked on land. There was one other Power Suit, the Hammer Brothers Suit, that aided in Mario’s fight against the Koopa Troop. This suit protected Mario from Fire and allowed him to throw hammers, something everyone wants to do. The power-ups added another element to the game and have become common in Mario games, such as the Penguin Suit and Flying Squirrel Suit. Number 2-New Power-Ups
