WWE Diva AJ Lee is a geek at heart, so it was a thrill when THQ surprised her with the news that she would be a downloadable character in THQ’s latest wrestling epic, WWE 13. The self-proclaimed geek gets her game on in this exclusive interview.
Wow. I see a little arc of CosPlay coming in to your character.
Yeah, and I’ve taken little elements and put it into who I am on screen. I actually did CosPlay as Katana in the Divas Battle Royale a year ago. I did the fan] lifts, and it didn’t work. I was so disappointed. Hopefully, I can be another gamer girl this year.
What do you remember from the Attitude Era?
It’s funny, because around that time is when I knew that I wanted to do this, but the girls were so racy and cutting edge.
Not any more.
No, thank the Lord. I remember watching and I was like, “I want to change that. I don’t want to be that. I want to be the 12-year-old diva.” So it’s interesting to see the contrast. That’s what I remember, thinking it was just so…like I didn’t want my parents walking into the room half the time. I was like, “Oh, my God. They’re gonna not let me watch wrestling anymore.” It was really amazing, and that thing at school that everyone would talk about. It’s kind of cool to think that they’re talking about us now, too, at school.
Hopefully, we can look back and this can be an era 10 or 15 years from now we’ll go ahead and play your role.
Oh, my gosh. That would be amazing.
