Minigame mayhem!
It's that time again for a new episode of Chichuki Plays, the show where I go hands-on with upcoming games and show them off. Usually, it's about an hour or so but I don't want to spoil too much of the game for you. This time we're looking at Neopets Mega Minigame Collection: Neopian Arcade Odyssey. Fans of Neopets as well as Mario-Party like games will want to check this one out.
To start off, Neopets Mega Minigame Collection: Neopian Arcade Odyssey is available in both a physical version as well as a digital version. That way you can get the game anyway you want to enjoy it. The objective of the game is to collect the highest amount of festival tokens to win the Starlight Festival trophy. Sounds simple enough right?
We play the role of Nyx and compete for the crown. Along the way, you'll have to play minigames to collect tokens. One issue I have right off the bat is that you can't change the resolution on the game. I have been a stickler on this for quite some time. You can't see/read everything on screen and that's an issue. There were times in the mini games where you can't tell if there are more things to do on screen. The home run derby-like minigame was rough because you can't see where you're going to hit the target.
The minigames I played for the video are simple enough. I felt that some of them are way too long in terms of time limit. They might seem simple enough, but I do recommend that you read the instructions, so you know what to do. To complete a minigame, you have to beat the target score, but the game doesn't really do a great job highlighting what that target score actually is. The minigame where you have to match clothing inside a dollhouse is tough because they don't give you too much room to move around the location. The furniture is a little too close and sometimes, makes you walk into the wrong match.
All-in-all, fans of minigame collections will have some fun with this one. However, the games go far too long. The PC version can't change resolution on screen so you might have trouble seeing things while playing. I would say this game would be very good for young kids, but the Neopets series is mostly for younger children so it should be a good match! Again, you can get this game in either physical or digital!
