Check out the first two hours of gameplay!

It's that time again for a new episode of Chichuki Plays, the show where I go hands-on with upcoming games and show them off. Usually, it's about an hour or so but I don't want to spoil too much of the game for you. This time we're looking at Ys X: Proud Nordics on The Nintendo Switch 2. The game is also available on Steam but for this video, we're playing the Switch version. For RPGS like this, I make the decision to play the first two hours of the game because a shorter length of time does a disservice to the game.

In Ys X: Proud Nordics, you play the role of Adol. You also play as Karja as well. Adol is an adventurer and Karja is a Norman pirate. Right at the start of the game, our ship is attacked by pirates and the captain was killed for not paying the toll to said pirates. It turns out the Karja is one of those pirates.

Mana is like magic in this game and it sounds like the Norman are the only ones that should be able to us mana. However, somehow Adol is able to use it. There is also the issue of the Mana handcuffs. Adol and Karja find themselves stuck together via mana cuffs and have no idea how to break free. It's actually a good thing because they can use their new found togetherness in fights. There are attacks that they can use together as well as guard together. The attacks the two can use are powerful and could help against enemies.

When you explore, you can control either Adol or Karja. You can attack with one or have them attack together via cuffs. They each have their own special attacks too that you can assign to certain buttons. You can also switch on the fly and have them attack one right after the other. That could be your best bet at doing enough damage to enemies. I really like how the game looks as well as how interesting/cool the different characters look. I really want to get to know more about the roster of characters. I want to see how the relationship between all the young adults in Obelia Gulf develop. I also want to see how the relationship between Adol and Karja grows.

Ys X: Proud Nordics is a fun RPG, action game that fans of those genres would be crazy to miss out on. It has a great cast of characters and voice actors that add to the fun of playing through it. I have never played an Ys game before, and I know I want to jump right back into it.
