Get a good night sleep!
It's that time again for a new episode of Chichuki Plays, the show where I go hands-on with upcoming games and show them off. Usually, it's about an hour or so but I don't want to spoil too much of the game for you. This time we're looking at Dreamed Away on the Nintendo Switch 2.
Dreamed Away is an interesting RPG with a dark story. You are Theo, looking for your sister who disappeared. It would appear that you have to locate her in some kind of psycho dream-state where you have to be on your toes. The RPG elements in the game remind me a lot of Undertale and the Mother/Earthbound series. I'm not the biggest Earthbound fan but I really liked what I played here. The battles have turn-based attacks similar to Mario RPG as well as having rhythm mechanics and actions. You'll have to dodge drops of blood or beer bottles in combat for example. Line up the timed hits when you attack for combo attacks for more damage. Some battles will feel simple and then there will be some that you will take damage no matter what. A rhythm section felt easy and then the matching sped up alot and I was getting hit alot. Be on the lookout everywhere because you'll find items that can help you out. You'll also never know what you could find to help combat. I found a TV remote in my house and that helped my stat-line.
Dreamed Away is a dark take on the classic RPG turn based formula. It looks charming but under that facade is a creepy story with interesting ideas. If you're looking for a spooky game to play for Halloween, here ya go!
