"Who Knew Being a Guardian Would Be Tough?"

It's that time again for a new episode of Chichuki Plays, the show where I go hands-on with upcoming games and show them off. Usually, it's about an hour or so but I don't want to spoil too much of the game for you. This time, we're looking at Altheia: The Wrath of Aferi on Steam. Fans of 3D adventure games like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will want to check this one out.

You start out your journey, playing as Lili. But Lilli won't be the only character on your journey, but we'll hit that in a little bit. Lili's mother was a Guardian but passes away fighting an ancient evil. However, after saving a Monk-in-training named Sadi, she gets thrown into the whole guardianship thing. The two will have to work together if they're going to save Atarassia from the corrupting Void. Sadi, the wolf-like entity has magical attacks/skills and Lili has a sword.

Along the way, you'll have to use both Lili and Sadi. Each one has their own attacks/skills that can make the adventure easier. There will be dungeons along the way that you'll have to fight your way through. Here is where the game feels like The Legend of Zelda. There are puzzles and challenges to figure out inside the dungeons. Challenges range from pushing blocks to messing with gears so use youe head.

The platforming is good but there were a few moments that weren't the greatest. You can climb up and across broken bridges and one bridge felt like an easy backward jump took me so long to figure out the subtle nuance needed to land it. There was also a section where I became stuck because I was unable to pick up the stone needed to open a door anymore and needed to restart. Luckily, I had saved the game recently, so I didn't lose too much progress.

Make sure you check out the hands-on/impressions video below.
