Farm like there's no tomorrow!
It's that time again for a new episode of Chichuki Plays, the show where I go hands-on with upcoming games and show them off. Usually, it's about an hour or so but I don't want to spoil too much of the game for you. This time, we're looking at Super Farming Boy on Steam.
Super Farming Boy is a farming simulation game but it's so much more than that. It's an adventure where you will have to think three steps ahead at times. What I mean by that is you will have to plan out your next move so you don't mess things up later. I'm getting a little ahead of myself here so lets get into the game. Super Farming Boy is all about the combo system and how you take advantage of it. You can plant crops pretty much anywhere you want on your land. To make the best of the land, you'll have to plant crops that you'll be able to attack when needed. For example you attack corn in a straight line. The more corn you have in a line, the more combo damage/benefit you'll gain from it.
Long story short, Korpo, the land developer/evil-doer, puts a tax on your farm land, steals all your super powers AND kidnaps our mother. I could let the tax and powers go but when you mess with family, then it's personal, pal! You will need to figure out how to make money as well as gather other items to get your things, friends, and mother back. Lucky for you, it;s real easy to make money because you can collect just about anything in the game. You can harvest crops, collect rocks/shells, and other things. Save enough and you can buy your things back from the greedmeister, Korpo. You will be able to interact with Korpo at the end of the day in your dreams. There you will be paid for what you collected during the day as well as purchase new tools/skills and friends if there are any you can afford.
You'll have a to-do list that can help you, similar to a quest log in other games. It will benefit you to do these tasks. You'll also get mail at your home with helpful gameplay tips/suggestions. You might get a letter about a sale at the local seed shop where you can get new crops to grow in your farm. It's up to you what you plant but the more crops you have, the more money you'll collect. You'll also want to pay the local establishments a visit. You never know what could help you. You can buy some food from Chef's Food Truck with ability boosting powers. You might but a meal that keeps helps keep your energy up so you can stay up a little later and not need sleep. Buying seeds from Toto's shack will allow you to grow new crops, create new combo attacks, and make more money. If only money grew on trees at this farm.
Super Farming Boy is an interesting take on the farming simulation genre. It combines farming with action nicely and should be one to keep an eye on. Make sure you check out the hands-on video below!
