Perform the Ritual!

It's that time again for a new episode of Chichuki Plays, the show where I go hands-on with upcoming games and show them off. Usually it's about an hour or so but I don't want to spoil too much of the game for you. This time, we're looking at Ritual of Raven on Steam.

Right off the bat, you can see that Ritual of Raven has a lot of charm going for it. I really like just how much you can customize your character at the start of the playthrough. Any game that allows me to color mu clothes and wear sunglasses is ok in my book. Long story short, you get transported to the land of Leynia. You meet up with Sage, who will help you try and get back to your world. You want to stick around in Leynia because magic exists there and you think that's really cool. Luckily, you have the Book of Shadows with you. That's your grimoire to help you craft spells and other magical abilities.

During your journey, you will have to perform tasks but certain tasks need to be done with magic. If you don't do them properly, it will drain the item of its magic. Like at the start of the game, you learn how to pick items so you don't drain them of magic. I found the mechanic of harvesting/farming a little annoying because you have to use a construct to perform tasks. Most locations where things need to be done will have a construct close by. That being said, you will have Tarot Cards that will allow constructs the ability to do things like move, pick, and dig for example. You are able to pick flowers and other things as you could need them for other tasks. Put your thinking cap on because there are puzzles that will be tough to solve. One puzzle had you make a construct step on all the blocks in an area, similar to ice puzzles in Pokemon games. You'll also have to get to know the people in town. They'll give you tasks to perform and in return, you'll get rewarded with things to help the cause.

The puzzles are tough at times in Ritual of Raven. I don't like that dealing with constructs is a tad slow but the writing and music is charming. Puzzle solvers will want to keep an eye out for Ritual of Raven.
