Retro meets Modern in 8 Bit Adventures 2 on Chichuki Plays
It's that time again for a new episode of Chichuki Plays, the show where I go hands-on with upcoming games and show them off. Usually it's about an hour or so but I don't want to spoil too much of the game for you. Today, we're checking out 8 Bit Adventures 2 on the Nintendo Switch. 8 Bit Adventures 2 feels like a love letter to old school retro games like Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior. Fans of games like that will be in heaven.
Right off the bat the music and sound effects will hit you right in the retro feels. 8 Bit Adventures 2 is paying homage to a lot of classic adventure games. The battle theme and the style really look like Final Fantasy and I'm all for it.
You learn the story of legend from the game at the start You get to name your characters right there. The cool part is that the heroes of legend are some of your playable characters which is a nice touch. I really like the fact that the main character is a young kid learning how to be a knight in knight training as well as going to school. It shows how tough real life and training can be. Another nice touch is the tutorial session is your Knight Training with the head knight/guard.
The way he sees if you're fit for combat is you learning the mechanics is a nice feature. Trust me, you will be glad you had a tutorial because the combat takes a little getting used to. There are attacks that auto block and then there are attacks that auto counter. Learn what works for you and fight like a champ. One thing I didn't like is that you don't heal when you level up. It is supposed to be like an old school game so I guess I shouldn't have expected anything less.
8 Bit Adventures 2 is something classic video game fans should take a look at. The music is fantastic and puts you right back into the NES era and you have to check out the game.
