Solve the mystery of the subsurface circular!
Subsurface Circular from the award-winning game developer and publisher Bithell Games is coming to Nintendo Switch on March 1st. The acclaimed text-based sci-fi adventure game puts players into the role of a detective stationed on the Subsurface Circular who investigates a series of disappearances among the city’s robotic working class. Following momentous launches on Steam and the App Store for iPad, Subsurface Circular has been well received for its experimental approach to storytelling and captivating narrative.
“Nintendo Switch is an ideal platform for players to experience Subsurface Circular, a game perfectly suited to playing on an actual train,” said Mike Bithell, founder of Bithell Games. “Nintendo has displayed a commitment to the success of independent gaming on Nintendo Switch, and we’re thrilled to join their expanding library of games.”
Subsurface Circular for Nintendo Switch was developed in partnership with the talented team at indie developer Ant Workshop and offers players the same engaging story that critics have praised as “intriguing” and “brilliantly written.” The game is a text-based adventure with a graphical twist in which players collect words and phrases, then use them in dialogue puzzles to uncover the world’s secrets and determine its fate.
“We have admired Mike’s work for a long time, and were thrilled at the opportunity to team up with Bithell Games to adapt the game onto Nintendo Switch,” said Anthony Gowland, founder of Ant Workshop. “We have a lot of love for the Switch at Ant Workshop, and wanted to make the most of the platform to bring Subsurface Circular’s thoughtful story to a new audience.”
As the first title in a series of “Bithell Shorts,” Subsurface Circular is meant to be experienced as a single-session story, respecting players’ time and intelligence.
Subsurface Circular for Nintendo Switch will be available on March 1st for $5.99 USD in the Nintendo eShop.
