Let's get emotional!
Independent developer Studio BBB has today revealed that heartfelt puzzle-adventure platformer MONOWAVE will launch on PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch on September 16th. The PlayStation5 and Xbox Series X|S versions are planned for release later in 2026. To mark the announcement, the studio has also unveiled a new trailer offering a closer look at the game's world, in which emotions become abilities - spreading through song to change nearby spirits and open new paths.
MONOWAVE will also return to Cologne with playable demos available at the Korea Indie Game Showcase, Hall 10.2, Booth F-001g.
In MONOWAVE, embark on an exploratory adventure shaped by emotion, atmosphere and discovery. Play as Mono, a newborn Guardian tasked with restoring balance to a broken world by reuniting the four Emotions: Anger, Anxiety, Happiness and Sorrow. As the guardian spirit of the Emotions, Mono can use emotional powers to interact with the eccentric inhabitants of each world, soothe four rampaging Emotions, and help them regain their balance before the world unravels any further.
Guide Mono through a series of evocative worlds, using observation and emotional awareness to overcome environmental challenges and connect with the world around them. Through thoughtful platforming, puzzle-driven progression and empathetic encounters with characters, uncover a heartfelt story that explores the complicated but meaningful ways different emotions manifest in our lives.
Players can experience MONOWAVE’s first chapter on Steam, offering roughly one hour of gameplay. Set in World 1, “The Panic Jungle,” a realm consumed by anxiety, players will learn MONOWAVE’s core emotion-based mechanics and face the first boss encounter, offering a hands-on introduction to the game’s heartfelt world ahead of its September 16th launch.
