First screenshots, trailer and details about the new Assassin’s Creed.

“We felt that this opportunity existed in the gaming industry because entertainment-wise we really see the more cartoony version of pirates, but as a team we felt that the realistic version of pirates was actually really awesome and something we wanted players to feel,” said Ashraf Ismail, game director for Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag at Ubisoft.

Gameplay in Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag is based upon the franchise’s proven tenets. Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag features a vast open world with more than 50 navigable locations. Combat combines the weaponry of the Assassin’s Order with armaments of the era, and rewards both daring and stealth. And the series’ acclaimed multiplayer experience is more varied and ruthless than ever in Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag.

“I’m very excited for people to see this because it will immerse them in a way that they’ve never been immersed for a naval game,” said Ismail. “This is brand new. Even the boarding, it’s completely seamless. AC3 teased the boarding. It was a bit more cinematic-driven and more scripted. For us, you can board virtually any ship in the ocean. You can do it from any orientation and it’s all seamless and you have to manage your crew, use your Assassin’s skills to efficiently complete your boarding. All the wrapping of being a pirate and an assassin is merged in an incredible way.”
