Here's my rundown of what's been said, what I'm hoping for, and what we can expect now (with no confirmations) on the Orbis/PS4. Don't get your jimmies rustled until the official launch -- this is simply a prediction article!

2. THE NEW CONTROLLER

A touch screen! New functions! More buttons! Less buttons! The new controller has been the talk of the town since the Sun reported an apparently "leaked" image of the PS4 controller that featured small 'touch pad'. What will this spell for gamers in communities like the fighting circuit -- something that could deeply impact the way things are judged at events such as CES? Honestly, I don't know. I told you this was an opinion piece, so seriously, whatever I'm saying is because I can't stop getting excited.

THE DREAM: A functional and easily adaptable controller hat doesn't switch up the way I take on tournaments is an ideal setup. Anything I can build a fight stick on is generally alright by me. But with rumored functions such as a touch screen and the capability of capturing gameplay to share on the web, one can't help but imagine that the PS4 will be much more highly focused on social media, sharing, and playing on teams. There's honestly not much wrong with that, but…

THE DOUBT: At the same time, new controllers always take time to get used to. Sony needs to be able to transition gamers and make that transition easy to the point where the benefits of change in size, shape or design do not affect the desire to play. Granted, with the rumored absence of the classic 'start' and 'select' buttons, this player is both optimistic and weary.
