Local game company releases free iOS game to celebrate the Big Easy.

The Big Easy has been recognized as the number one brain gain destination in the country for the past four years. Young professionals and entrepreneurs are flocking to New Orleans in droves, and leading the pack is technology entrepreneurs creating their own tech startups. So much so that New Orleans has become known as Silicon Bayou.

The new brain gainers and techies have meshed well with New Orleans’ iconic music, food, art and culture and in some cases collaborating to showcase New Orleans’ cultural assets to the rest of the world through technology and digital media.

In honor of Super Bowl XLVII, New Orleans artist Lionel Milton and tech guru Chris Schultz of Voodoo Ventures and Flatstack collaborated on the development of Mardia Brah, a free iPhone app/game that showcases New Orleans music, art and architecture in an I-phone game similar to the very popular bird game with a New Orleans twist. The game is a pass, punt and kick contest that showcases iconic New Orleans symbols throughout.

The fun and casual virtual world of Mardi Brah uses New Orleans artist Lionel Milton’s signature characters and streetscapes as its backdrop. He is known for his distinct and authentic New Orleans style. The music was written and produced specifically for the game by popular local musician Nesby Phips. The game is currently available for free download in the Apple app store.
