Our preview of Splinter Cell: Blacklist by Ubisoft Toronto
THE UGLY – Story
So last, but not least in Splinter Cell Blacklist is the story, which is the majority of my disappointment because from a visual standpoint it just doesn’t make sense. If you haven’t heard by now, Michael Ironside original voice actor for Sam Fisher isn’t returning to his role in the series. Eric Johnson is both voicing and acting as him in motion capture duties. I have no problem with the voice change until I played the story.
In Blacklist, Sam Fisher is younger, harder, better, faster, and stronger then when he last appeared. He moves faster up building, can jump farther, He’s a stron facial figure looks a lot younger. This is coming off of Splinter Cell: Conviction when he looked like George Clooney, who was protecting his daughter, Sarah. So here begins the biggest conundrum that the game has. The game starts of six months after Splinter Cell: Conviction, and still follows the Splinter Cell cannon. Wait Huh? It just doesn’t make sense from a narrative, or visual standpoint. Why does Sam fisher, a character that we grown accustomed to the way he moves, he looks and the sound of Michael Ironside voice sounds change in a blink of an eye?
