The Legend of Zelda finally comes to the Wii U. Is it worth its weight in rupees?

Game play is pretty straight forward for a Zelda game with targeting and sword fighting. I was finding myself pushing the wrong button on the Game Pad sometimes but that is just poor controller layout, not control issues. Find that it is easier to target with shoulder buttons than anything else and the Wind Waker HD is no different. Another thing to remember is that this is just the tip of the Legend of Zelda iceberg with a Link Between Worlds coming out in November and the Original Zelda Wii U game hopefully next year. The future looks bright for Zelda fans and this is a good start for the Wii U Zelda era and the time for Nintendo to pull it and the Wii U out of the trouble they created with lackluster games and poor sales.

To sum up, Nintendo is cashing in on the nostalgia factor for the Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD and I have no problem with that. I do have a problem with the controls and the touch ability in game play at times. I really like the idea of the Tingle Bottle and having everything just feel faster, like sailing around. It looks great in HD and cartoonish looking Wind Waker was a great choice to become an HD version. However the controls stick at times and should be tighter in spots. The gyro sensor and motion control is a good idea in theory but practicality miss the mark at times, like with the grappling hook. All and all the game should bring back the memories those fans of the Game Cube version and Zelda games in general had when they first played it. For these reasons, I’m giving The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD for the Wii U a 9/10, game that finds the treasure at the bottom of the sea at times and at times misses the mark Don’t get me wrong , the game is good and if did a few things differently better.

Score: 9 / 10
