Sega treats Mickey Mouse right with this inspired platformer remake.
As for the audio, it's the best part of the game. The music is fully orchestrated, and features a combination of classic tunes from the 16-bit release and new ones, to create a majestic soundtrack that really stands out. The narrator is terrific too, providing some good back-story on Mickey as you go on your journey, but without wearing out his welcome. The sound effects are good, and Mickey's voice doesn't sound too annoying – thankfully, he doesn't talk much.
You'll get through everything Castle of Illusion has to offer in about three hours' time, but by no means should you miss out on it. It's short but sweet, a welcome title that sits proudly next to Capcom's DuckTales Remastered as a reboot done right. If Sega Australia can weave this kind of magic on Castle, imagine what it could do with Donald Duck's Quackshot or the two-player World of Illusion. C'mon, Sega!
