James Silva returns with a loving nod of the cap to the old-school brawler.
You also have a Windows Phone, which connects to a fake Twitter account and goes through messages you receive from your friends in-game. It'll be a little pointless to some, but it's a great way to connect with the community. You can also take pictures of QR codes and earn some bonus goodies as well. Cool.
Where Charlie Murder is at its best is with its presentation. The graphics are a huge step up from Silva's previous work, but still maintain the style he's come to be known by. The animations, background settings, and even the blood are all hand-drawn and incredibly fun to watch. The screen does get a little chaotic at times when four players are beating up armies of zombies, but that's usually the case with a beat-em-up anyway. The music is phenomenal too, a collection of rag-tag rock tunes that you'll want to download the soundtrack for the first chance you get. The in-game radio station is fun too, once you find it.
For ten bucks, Charlie Murder is yet another quality beat-em-up to add to your collection, alongside the Konami releases and Capcom's Dungeons and Dragons: Chronicles Over Mystara. It has its own wicked style, but has the gameplay to keep players happy as they brawl onward. This is yet another notch in Silva's belt, and it just leave us antsy wondering just what he'll do next…
