Newbies may be overwhelmed by the combat and design, but fans will feel right at home.
Co-op is also strongly supported in Zeno Clash II, as you can hook up with a friend over Xbox Live and/or PlayStation Network to do some damage as your sibling. It's an interesting result, though there aren't any spectacular team-up moves you can pull off together. It feels like a slightly missed opportunity.
There's replay value here, as there are side quests you can complete (like that artist's quest) that let you explore this weird world a little further. However, Team Ace would've been wise to make the story more accommodating for those who missed the first game – as there were quite a few out there that did. Fans, though, should be more than happy continuing the tale.
With its first-person perspective, questionable dialogue and storyline and overwhelming art style, Zeno Clash II is an acquired taste. Still, it earns a modest recommendation on its sheer level of weirdness and creativity, which you don't see that often in this industry. Check out the demo and see if it's an ideal fit for you. Who knows? You just might get a kick out of pile-driving a giant slug into the ground.
