It's not a show for all tastes, but for those that do enjoy its goofiness, it's a must-have.
But there are laughs, and plenty of pop culture reference gags. Chances are you'll smile from ear-to-ear when the pair visit their take on the Tron universe. There are gems here, and the bigger a fan you are, the more you'll enjoy it. Take in a few episodes and see where it sits with you – I grew into it, but it took a little while. Must've been the unicorns.
Regular Show does benefit from a superb video transfer, though the animation style is a bit crude, so it might be hard to notice. The audio is a bit lackluster, riding in on a simple Dolby Digital 2.0 track, with very little effort put behind it. You can still hear characters and such, but it could've been better.
As for the extras, the set comes with a whole bunch of audio commentaries, which are best left to fans. You'll also find interviews, the original show pilot, pencil and CG tests and other bits and pieces, like the "Party Tonight" video, that are worth a look, especially if you're a fan.
I can think of better Cartoon Network/Adult Swim sets to invest in – the Venture Brothers IMMEDIATELY come to mind – but Regular Show has its appeal here and there, and the characters, though hit and miss, are unique. Plus we can't get enough of Mark Hamill. Even as a yeti. Check it out on a rental if you can, but if you're a fan, go get it. The bros demand.
