Neo-Paris, the setting of Remember Me, is absolutely gorgeous. From the moment Nilin escapes the Memorise Corporation, you will be blown away at the amount of detail and uniqueness of the world. Neo-Paris was designed from the ground up and it shows. The city looks at feels as if it can one day truly exist. Technology bleeds through this city, as shop specials, restaurant menus, and advertisements appear in digital form outside of the windows of local businesses. The architecture is also beautiful and realistic. The world feels bright open, even though there is a darker side to Neo-Paris.
The city is even gorgeous in the rain.
While Neo-Paris is breathtaking, it contains patches of darkness that attempt to hide the mutations caused by the Sensen. These areas are forgotten about by society and are infested with Leapers. These areas are dark, dingy, dirty, and showcase a level of destruction and despair that the inhabitants of Neo-Paris attempt to ignore, and possibly forget. These areas provide a much-needed variety to the setting and serve has a haunting reminder of what technology like the Sensen can do to the human population. Along with the story, the presentation is an amazing part of this game. The presentation is also one of the biggest downfalls of the game.
Nilin uses platforming to traverse the city.
The world of Remember Me is beautiful, alive, and unique. The world screams out to be explored. As a player, you will want to search every nook of Neo-Paris to truly experience its beauty. The only problem is, you can’t.
