Visual hiccups and a lack of weaponry keep this from being the series' cream of the crop.
Revelations' single player game will take you a few hours to get through, and once that's done, there's Raid Mode, where you team up with a friend to take on waves of enemies in a Horde Mode-style set-up. Sometimes these stages can drag on, and they don't necessarily make up for the fact you can't play through the whole campaign with a friend, but it certainly beats nothing. Resident Evil vets will feel right at home with this mode.
No, Resident Evil: Revelations probably won't even come close to comparing to some of the series' other better moments, but on the bright side, Capcom has somewhat righted the mess that was last year's action-filled smorgasbord, in favor of a more intimate, haunting experience. If you're any sort of fan of the series, or just need a survival horror game that, hey, lives up to its moniker, this is one ship worth setting sail with. Just prepare for a challenge – and the occasional ugly mother moment that has nothing to do with Umbrella.
