Just like Fast Five, this sequel is best enjoyed by simply gearing up for the ride.
The last time we saw Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker), they had just gotten away with the ultimate heist in Rio di Janeiro, leaving heavy duty cop Luke Hobbs (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) vowing he'd find them again soon. That was how 2011's Fast Five came to a close, following a rollicking thrill ride that put the dwindling Fast and the Furious franchise back in high gear. Now the only question is if it would stay there.
Question answered. Fast & Furious 6 – a movie that could've easily been called Fast Six just for the sake of staying to its zippy form – once again has most of the crew making its return, and causing all kinds of trouble. However, this time around, Toretto and O'Conner are teaming up with Hobbs, an unlikely partnership with a certain goal in mind. Both parties want something.
Hobbs has been hunting a notorious criminal named Shaw (Luke Evans), a man that knows how to pull off amazing crimes and still get away scot-free, like escaping a police ambush in London with the help of a primitively designed – yet elegantly speedy – "flip car". Even when Hobbs and his new partner Riley (Gina Carano) have him cornered, he finds a way out.
Meanwhile, the matter is much more personal for Toretto and O'Conner, as they find out that Letty (Michelle Rodriguez), who was Dominic's main squeeze from the first films of the series, isn't dead as originally thought, and is working with Shaw's crew. Determined to save her before she gets herself killed, the two agree to work with Hobbs – with their crew and the promise of full pardons intact – if they come through.
