Is the sequel to J.J. Abrams' 2009 blockbuster worth the ticket price? Find out inour review!
Without revealing too much, the actions of the Enterprise crew have the potential to have ripple effect on an entire civilization. This causes Kirk to loose his position as Captain of the Enterprise. This does not last long as a terrorist by the name of John Harrison attacks the Star Fleet and Kirk and his crew are given permission to hunt Harrison down. This leads to the most exciting adventure the Enterprise crew has had yet. While there are many rumors around John Harrison’s character, when his true identity and intentions are revealed, fans may not be surprised but they will be pleased.
Cumberbatch is scary as John Harrison.
The action in this movie is over the top and is exactly what summer movies are made of. From the Enterprise warping into outer space to the close combat between Harrison and Spock at the films closing, this movie has it all. The film’s main stars Kirk, Spock, and Harrison this time around handle most of the action. While Lt. Uhura does get her fair share of phaser shots in, the rest of the crew are resigned to the Enterprise it self. It would have been great to have Bones or Sulu join in the fray, but their roles were still strong in the film. While their roles may have been slightly diminished, their performances were fantastic.
The action is amazing from beginning to end.
The entire cast of Star Trek: Into Darkness delivers incredible performances. Chris Pine reprises his role as the cocky Captain James T. Kirk. Pine brings a bit more gravitas to the role in the emotional scenes that show his growth as an actor since the last films. While Pine is great as Kirk, the true standouts in the film are Zachary Quinto as Spock and Benedict Cumberbatch as John Harrison.
